About this site

Overview, features and application details

The People's Solar programme is Thailand's rooftop solar subsidy: 50,000 baht per household for up to 1,000,000 households. Registration runs 27 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 on the official MEA portal.

The People's Solar programme is the Thai government's rooftop solar subsidy, approved by the Cabinet on 27 October 2026. It pays 50,000 baht per household toward a home solar installation, with a total budget of 50 billion baht covering up to 1,000,000 households. Registration is open from 27 October 2026 to 31 January 2027 on the official portal, peoplesolar.mea.or.th.

Who can register

The programme is for Thai nationals with a residential electricity account of type 1. Temporary meters and condominium units are excluded. One detail catches people out: the name of the person applying must match the name of the electricity meter owner. If the meter is in a parent's or a landlord's name, the application has to be sorted out in that name first — a mismatched application will not go through.

How registration works

Register on peoplesolar.mea.or.th using your Thai ID. Registration reserves your place in the programme; it is not the whole process. After registering, you arrange your solar installation and then file a grid-connection request with your electricity authority. That request must be submitted by 31 August 2027, and the connection itself must be completed by 30 September 2027. Miss those dates and the subsidy is gone, even if you registered on time.

What the 50,000 baht covers

The subsidy is a fixed contribution per household toward installing rooftop solar — it is not a cash handout and it does not promise to cover a full system for every house size. Your installer and system size decide your total cost; the programme takes 50,000 baht off it, as long as you finish every step inside the deadlines.

Dates to write down

Registration closes 31 January 2027. Grid-connection request deadline: 31 August 2027. Connection completed by: 30 September 2027. Put all three in your calendar the day you register.

Our People's Solar registration guide follows the programme step by step, including the eligibility checks.
